Poor drainage
The course seems to struggle with any amount of rain. Tees submerged in an inch of water, fairways very squelchy, greens passable - didn’t make for an enjoyable round. Probably quite nice in summer.
The course is nice. But when you do not know the holes and as you can not see from the tee, there are a lot of unpleasant surprices on the way to the green. More information should be provided about the holes.
Great Course and Great Value
Absolute Bargain having taken the Monday special Offer rate. Best course in the area for the money by a country mile..
Good day
Course was in great condition. Club house and hotel wants pulling down and start again.
A Gem
Great course. Found a bargain deal for playing on Mondays. Couldn’t find a better course for the discounted price.
Course Review
Surprised that course was open in wet and windy conditions but it turned out to be very playable with things only getting difficult on last three holes when wind and rain picked up. It's a really nice course with good length par 4's and 5's to get that driver going and it also has some delightful par 3's. We really enjoyed the course despite returning like a wet rag! Look forward to playing this beauty on a dry sunny day!
Interesting course, average facilities.
We've played here a few times. A little remote but very peaceful.
The course has many memorable holes, several of them using the brook that runs through. There are a few risk reward holes requiring a realistic view of your talent!
The clubhouse isn't especially inviting. £2.50 for a mug of very average coffee? However, come for the course, it's well worth it.
Not the best
Club house a bit run down
Over priced coffee for the size of cup
Course was okish greens good considering they had been aerated. Few tee boxes needed work.
Loved the fact it’s not a smashers course and you really had to think about your golf shot.
Unnecessary slow round
We were a two ball and it took 5 hours to follow a slow club match around on an otherwise quiet day. Completely unnecessary when later times would have had no delay. They allowed tee times immediately after a load of 4 player matches, so the slow round was completely predictable and avoidable. Players behind us were similarly delayed.
My complaint to the Manageress was met with an unsympathetic response, basically saying we should have booked direct rather than through Golf Now, and as a two ball we have to expect to be delayed.
Avoid Hot Deals, as they are likely to be similarly bad times.
Interesting and challenging
Played today, front nine pretty tight and a fade would be a handy shot to have! Back nine much more open and pretty long. Greens were slower than played on recently and course a little scruffy in a few little places but very enjoyable overall! Excellent value and I would definitely come back! Definitely a challenge.
Fantastic place!!! Super chef!!!
Very impressive how they kept the condition of the course excellent maintained.
The persons that work there love do do it they were charming engaging a pleasure to talk with them!!
Go there
Lovely course
Booked on teeofftimes for £20. Great value for money, with the course in super condition. Second time i've played it and there are nice variations and challenges to keep it interesting. Clubhouse staff friendly, but bar staff could do with learning to smile, which was similar to the first time i played earlier this year, or maybe it's because we aren't regulars. All in all tbough, i would not hesitate to play there again
Gatton
What a tragedy this great course is closing in October unless a buyer comes in ... fantastic greens great layout everything you want in a round of golf if you haven't played it yet get your skates on to enjoy this great golf course
Great course set to close
Really enjoyable course in great condition and a great layout gives some interesting challenges. Tee to green the course was in beautiful condition and a pleasure to play. Best course I have visited this year and great value for money. Seems a shame that there are plans to redevelop and close the course.
Bar closed at 15.45 on a Sunday
Paid £22 so value for money. Lovely course greens were good once the frost had gone. Some really interesting holes and the fairways were cut very tight.
Disappointed at the clubhouse being closed after we finished at 15.50 so couldn't have a drink after.
Also pace of play rather slow took 4hrs 20 which I think is far too long for a course of this design and length.
Overall a nice course in good condition for this time of year will go back in the spring.
