Aerated greens
GolfNow was not on the same page .. payed $64 through them . Got there and Lakewood National had a $25 fee to play . Would have not driven an hour to play this course in the condition it was in with aerated greens !!!
Great Experience
From the start the pro shop staff were great, Mitch on the range provided course knowledge and was very helpful. Conditions were great and the course layout was nice.
great course....always want to play it when we come down from Michigan
Awesome Course
Fantastic course. We will definitely be back. The entire experience was perfect
Top 5 course in this area for sure, not dried up like most courses, greens were aerated but the ball still tracked pretty well. Would definitely go again with a hot deal.
Great layout, great practice area
Have been paired up with members 3 times at Lakewood National. The members always were friendly, helpful and a pleasure to be paired with.
Practice area is very nice, from the driving range to the short game area to the putting greens.
Greens are very firm, supposedly 11 on stimp, certainly faster than most places. Greens are pretty hard, but no ball marks and putt very smoothly. All in all a great place to play.
Great conditions, fun layout.
As all of the other reviews have said, this course is in excellent shape. Fast rolling greens, and lush fairways. There are some areas where the deep rough was at least 5 inches tall, making for some very difficult second shots. For the most part there’s plenty of room off of the tee, and if you hit to the correct portion of the green there are plenty of birdie opportunities. When it’s windy, the course can feel VERY long so pick the correct tees to avoid soul-killing sadness.
Challenging but fun experience.
Fair and open landing areas. Big greens challenge to hit to the right spots to have a better chance to score.
Great time! Highly recommend!
Excellent
Very well maintained course. Excellent fairways. Fast and tricky greens. Its a long way from the coast but worth the effort. Looking forward to playing again
As Good As it Gets
Have played Lakewood National several times and it reminded me again today just how impressive this course is. It was in PGA Tour condition (and it’s May with many folks already having gone north, so every incentive not to keep it in a refined state.). Where in the Bradenton/Sarasota area can you find a huge practice range with balls included, impeccably kept tees (with seven tee positions) and fairways, and beautifully uniform greens with carpet soft slopes surrounding them? Of course, your greeted at the curb, your clubs are put on the cart, and your treated respectfully by all. And here’s the kicker, we got a Golfnow deal on top of all of that. It doesn’t get much better than that!
Best Course Open To The Public In The Area
Used a "Hot Deal" to tee off early in the afternoon. Paired with two other golfers who were as excited as I was to get on this great course. Simply put: This is the best conditioned non-private golf course you will find anywhere. The greens are fast as light and the areas around the greens are in such condition that you can putt your ball from 20+ yards off the green if you so desire. Staff is very friendly and works to make sure your experience is a memorable one. Tip: If you do play this course go a bit early and use their range and practice greens. They are the best this duffer has ever seen.
Don’t miss
Great course. Fairways almost as fast as the greens. Pristine conditions everywhere. Lots of targets on the driving range.
This was the best course that I have played since moving to Florida. Everything was in pristine condition .Driving range putting green and the whole course in general. Can’t say enough good things about this course. Don’t pass up this course, you wiould be disappointed .
Two bads on you. Booked at the wrong place and paid a higher fee because sometimes calling the course you can get a special. Also and most important you did not call the course ahead of time to see if the greens/course was recently punched. It takes 3-4 weeks to fully heal from large hole aeration. Aeration is done a lot on Florida golf courses from April through October. Then October to December you need to call and see if the course has over-seeded. If so it takes many weeks before they cut the grass short otherwise it is like shag carpeting. Call and ask and you would have found out a better time to play this amazing course.
