Trumansburg Golf Club
Played On 06/07/2018Will return
Camped at the local state park. People recommended the course. Glad we went there. Very nice course, although challenging. Seemed there were some L O N G holes, but that was OK. Tee boxes and greens were good too. Plan on going back.
Silver Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/06/2018Wonderful
Camped at a local state park and drove the 40 minutes to Silver Creek. It was well worth it! A wonderful course. Tough to navigate from some of the greens to the next tee, but that was mostly due to it being my first time on the course. Great price, great course - challenging, but fair. Will be back!
Sunset Ridge Golf Club
Played On 05/18/2018great course
Unique in that there are 3 par 3's, 3 par 4's and 3 par 5's on both the front and back nine. Watch out for the ravine on the back though!

Have played the West course many times. Nice straight fairways with very good greens. Excellent for working on your game.
West at Rogues Roost Golf & Country Club

Course is in good shape despite being in a wetter part of CNY. Greens were especially good. Layout is pretty basic, most holes are straight with few sand traps or water. But still a decent course.
Sunset Ridge Golf Club
Played On 05/09/2018Welcome Back!
After too many owners, the course is now open again. The course has always been challenging, but good. Greens were a bit bumpy, but that was due to the spring aeration and will soon be smooth again. Staff were TERRIFIC as I had to change my tee time at the last minute and they got me in - with no hassle. Unique course in that it has 3 Par 3's, 3 Par 4's and 3 Par 5's on both the front and back nine. Really cool!
Camillus Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2018Great time.
Camillus CC is a wonderful venue. Played there many times. Challenging with the hills and uneven lies, but the fairways and greens are always in great shape. Sand traps were a bit hard, but the weather has not really warmed up here in CNY yet.
Ironwood Golf Course
Played On 04/05/2018YES!!
Played the course two days before and posted a mediocre review. But it rained on us then and again the following day. But today was clear and dry. But the course was in great shape. As I had mentioned the fairways and greens were in tough shape and in need of water. The rain did the trick. Had a great time!
Ironwood Golf Course
Played On 04/03/2018Hoping for improvement.
Played here about 6 weeks ago. Have also played there last year.. Today was disappointing. Fairways were very dry and grass was in poor shape. Greens were blotchy as there were patches of different grass growing. I was told it was due to the change of the seasons here in Florida and they were letting the new grass grow in. Maybe. I like the course, as I stated I have played here before. It was better then. Playing again today (two days after this review) and after a few rainstorms. Hopefully the course will be better.
Crescent Oaks Country Club
Played On 03/28/2018One more time
Played again, 5 times in a row. Better than many courses around and for a decent price. Greens were a bit hard as there has been no rain and the fairways were hurting a bit despite irrigation. But still, a great course!
Crescent Oaks Country Club
Played On 03/21/2018Awesome.
VERY good course. Great greens which is hard to do in Florida. Some tough holes as one needs to hit spots.
Wentworth Golf Club
Played On 03/09/2018Tight
The previous reviews were accurate. The course is a bit tight in spots. They provide a course map of each hole in a small booklet which was helpful, but my GPS through GolfNow and the people we were paired up with helped even more. Not knowing the course would be a very large problem But it is a nice course. People were friendly, but professional. Electric carts are nice too. Hope to return if time allows this trip.
Juliette Falls
Played On 03/08/2018windy and cool (apologies to Doc Watson)
Great course. Country club atmosphere. Played with a man who has been there before and he was VERY helpful regarding hole layouts, where to hit, etc. Would LOVE to go back on a warm and calm day.
Ironwood Golf Course
Played On 02/21/2018improved
Played here last year, course seemed better now. Better fairways (grass) and greens. Tee boxes too. Tough course for me as I play the blue tees (men) which is about 6100 yds. Helps to know the course as there is some water and sand around. Didn't see any gators today, but did last year. if you ball goes in the water, leave it there!
The Rock Golf Club & Resort
Played On 02/18/2018It's still February.
First time. Better than I expected. The fairways were tough as it is February and the grass is still dormant. Made irons a bit difficult. A lot of water (ponds and streams) all over. Good to have a GPS map (I use goflnow.com) to actually view the satellite images. Guy at the pro-shop said the greens were new and hard. They were in excellent shape -pretty much the only green part of the course (it is February!). I would go back if I could next time through.
Vesper Hills Golf Club
Played On 09/29/2017Tough but fun
Greens were aerated earlier in the week, making putts unpredictable. Otherwise it was a great day to play. Some of the Par 4's are 400+ yds, making it tough for intermediate players. Greens are usually very good and true. Some water/sand, but avoidable once you know the course.
Vesper Hills Golf Club
Played On 09/25/2017Great course.
Great course. Tough for medium level players as many of the par 4's are 400+ yds. Nice view of the lake from the 17th fairway.
West at Rogues Roost Golf & Country Club
Played On 09/01/2017Decent.
Rogues Roost has 2 courses, east and west. The west course is a bit easier, less water and less sand. We did get trapped behind a slow foursome, but usuallt pace is ok.
Genesee Valley Golf Course - North
Played On 07/18/2017Public course
This is a municipal course. But it is very good. Tough for the average golfer as there are a few 400 yd holes that are Par 4's. We played after a LOT of rain. Course drained OK, not a lot of standing water. But the rough was a bit tall as the mow crew had all they could do to keep the fairways and greens in good shape. Which they did. Helps knowing the course ahead of time so you have an idea where to hit the ball off the tee. Distances can be deceiving to the eye.
Have played there every time I visit Rochester area. Good place to play. Looking forward to playing there again.
Vesper Hills Golf Club
Played On 05/17/2017tough course
The front 9 has had some work done - added an island green. Is mostly flat and young. The back nine is very hilly with many dog legs. Much tougher than the front. The men's tees (white) are almost 6200 yds, while the senior tees are 5500 and the women's about 5200. The white's are pretty long for me (64 years old), but the seniors are too short. But I have to adjust and be happy with a score in the low 90's instead of my usual 80's.
Great course though. Terrific clubhouse (newly renovated) and views of Ostisco Lake.
Looking forward to playing there many times this season.
