Resort? Think Muni.....

Course in great condition, greens were beautiful!
Unfortunately, this is just a muni masquerading as a resort. There are trees lining all the holes for a reason; Most of the holes are just up, and then back. Just not a lot of personality. if you like to walk, it's easily walkable.

Great course - Worst experience ever with staff

Beautiful course. Pristine conditions.
I'll preface this by saying in have played east lake, AAC, and Pumpkin Ridge, and I have never been treated as badly as I was here today.
So now be prepared for my review and expect when you go to be treated with an air of country club snobbery I have never experienced in all my life.
Started in the pro shop on check in. I was asked if we wanted to pay an extra fee for the range. We declined, and then we heard the pro shop announce of the radio that we had not pages for the range. No problem, we didn't plan to hit balls anyway. We get to the putting green, and they have a sign, no chipping. Fine no problem. We start chipping around the edge of the range. One guy tells us there is a chipping area hidden, and we should go there and chip. We chip for about 5 minutes, and the starter, "Gene", comes over and tells us we can't chip because we didn't pay for the range!!
(He says we can putt on the putting green, but no chipping for us; i want to say isn't that part of the range, but I bite my tongue)

When we finish, the cart guy (and I mean guy- 50 something) rides with us to our car. I tell him the clubs are fine, and give him a $5, and when I ask him for two back, he looks at me as if I was the cheapest guy ever. When he reaches in to give me the two, he must have $400 in there

The course is great, but I guess they have enough people that they don't want any of us Golfnow folks there.

This course is about 6 miles from me, and I doubt I will ever go back there.

Oh Boy!! What a course!!

OK, I will preface this by saying if you're a high handicapper, this course is not for you. That being said....
What a jewel!!
Beautiful setting, it feels like you've stepped back from n time, and are enjoying the landscape as our forefathers did.
Lots of blind shots. Lots of uphill/downhill shots.
If you're hitting the ball relatively straight, you'll enjoy this course.

If you're looking for a championship course.....

...this isn't it. This is just a good old boy course, that is perfect for you guys that are higher handicaps. It's pretty open, but it does have enough challenge to keep everyone in your group happy.
The fairways are OK, not great, but the greens are in great shape.
The guys in the pro shop are super friendly!

For what I paid on GN, it was a good value, but don't get your expectations too high when you book here....

Great golf course with some unfortunate challenges

Firstly, course and greens are in fantastic shape .
Plenty of challenge, even for a 6400+/- yd course.

Now the cons:
Adjacent to a quarry. If they are open, unbelievably noisy.
The front is pretty close to some busy roads, so when you get away from the quarry, still lots of traffic background noise.
Some of the holes are pretty tight, so keep your eyes open for errant shots.

I'd go back, but only when I know the quarry is closed.

Enjoy these greens....

Some of the fastest greens I have played. If the course is busy, expect a longer round than normal. There is enough difficulty with some of these holes, that it will bottleneck on busier days.

I enjoyed my day, even though the course won today....

Can I give this course 6 stars??????

Beautiful setting for a golf course. Nicklaus design - very impressive!! Selection of tee boxes to make it a challenge for all.
Can I say more about this course? If I could, I'd give it 6 stars!!

4.5 stars!!

OK, I really like this course. The fairways are not 100% pure, but they are fair, and the greens are pure. When you miss putts here, it's you, not not the greens!!

I like it because when you play here, it's like stepping into a wilderness, and there just happens to be a golf course.

In the immortal words of Arnold, I'll be back...

Nice track

This course gets a lot of play, so it is typically very busy, so rounds take a bit longer than normal. I enjoyed it, as it is a fair test, with no really tricked up holes.

Great greens and fairways

This course is like a tale of two nines. The front runs through a community, so it is, in my opinion, not really as nice as the back.

This one would not be easily walked, as the holes have a good bit of separation on several of them.

With a bit of work, this one could be great!!

The course is set on a beautiful piece of property and the layout is fair, with no real surprises; Most everything is there to see, so no "Boy, I wish I'd played that shot differently" moments.

The greens were soft and rolled true.

Cons:
- The fairways are really sparse; More like winter conditions than mid-summer. Not sure why, but if you play winter rules, you'll enjoy the fairways.
- The bunkers are just basically gone. They have gotten a lot of rain, but it seems they have given up on them. When we hit in the bunkers, we raked them in the area near where we hit, and then they played just like you'd expect them to play.

Don't avoid this course just because of the cons; It still is a fun track to play!

It's a Muni....

Some of the most beautiful terrain you will see for a golf course. That's the good.

Now the downside(s):
- Fairways really sparse - You will need to play winter rules to have grass to hit from on some of your shots in the fairway.
- The fairways cross the entrance road several times; Really nothing they could do with the design, but kinda strange waiting for cars to pass before you hit.
- The driving range is adjacent to the first hole; As you drive up hole one cartpath, you are in jeopardy!

The greens are good, so no worries there.
This is the first time that I have ever played a par 6 (#18)
Very interesting hole.

A fair test

Enjoyed playing this course. Its pretty straight forward; What you see is what you get. It looks as if they are ramping up to put houses all over it, so get out and enjoy it while its still in its native state.

Tale of two nines.....

Beautiful N Ga course. There is a radically different difficulty quotient between the front and back. I find the back to be much easier, except for the 18th. That hole is a bear!!

I'm kinda partial to this course since I have my one and only hole in one on hole 17.

Staff always friendly. Come on up and play Hampton. You can thank me later!! :)

Really a joy to play. I liked it well enough to replay the day I played. Zoysia fairways; greens rolled true.

This isn't the hardest course you'll ever play, but its a fair test.

Really nice track!

Played here several times, and I always enjoy coming here. There are some real big par 4's on this course, so choose your tee boxes based on those; not on total yards.

Lower your expectations.......

If you go to this course expecting to be at a plush CC, you will be sorely disappointed. This is a muni, plain and simple. The holes have little separation, which makes it great for beginners.

Pros: Getting to see a herd of goats on hole 7; That was really cool!!

Cons: Beautiful old trees come into play on several of the holes. (What's the deal on hole 9? How the heck are you supposed to get a tee shot through those trees?)

It was worth what I paid to play on GN, but would not go back, even at the discounted rate.
