Shanty Creek
About Shanty Creek
The 5,000 acres of Shanty Creek Resorts are spread among three villages - Cedar River, Schuss and Summit, each with at least one golf course, restaurant and accommodations galore. The Summit is arguably home base with the Lakeview Lodge housing the Lakeview Restaurant, the spa and the Legend and Summit golf courses. The resort added the Hawk's Eye course and accommodations across the street in 2021.Facts

Must Play
AWESOME COURSE, a must play if your in the area. Challenging but fair. Was here the week before Labor Day and had the course to ourselves. Can’t wait to play it again.
Spectacular views, landscape, and layout
This is one of my all time favorites. The course features great views on every hole. The layout is challenging but fair. I noticed the ball marks on the greens were a problem and suggest the starter provide a tool to players to help remind them to keep the course in great shape for the next group.
Great mature course in the Shanty Creek portfolio
Summit is a wonderful course and a great value for the money. I am a summer membership cardholder who lives here, so for $225 I can play as much as I want; cart fee is a bit pricey at $25 but I tend to walk as much as I can. I highly suggest you carry when you walk since it is quite hilly, especially on the back 9. A push cart is brutal going up and down the numerous hills. The greens are in great shape, some of the rough can get a little spotty in terms of turf but you'd have to get off-line quite a ways to find that. I hate that the course is closed on Wed and Thursday, and if that continues I will find another place to get a membership - I like to play 18 on the weekend and once in the middle of the week - the new closure days and not good for me.
Summit = Very average up north course, fair condition
Played here before, so knew what to expect. Okay course to get a quick round in, but very average for the Bellaire area. Shanty Creek Resort is obviously not making this golf course a priority, as the fairways are very spotty and in need of some TLC, and the rough is overgrown or hard pan for the most part. Greens are in decent shape and well kept. For $25 for 9 holes, you get what you pay for here.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting The Summit at Shanty Creek, and we hope to see you again in the future.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. We would love to know how we can earn those last two stars next time! Thanks for playing Hawk's Eye at Shanty Creek.
Not a great experience!
It was overbooked, the course was not in great shape, and they paired us up with another couple! Definitely not worth the money we spent to play here!!

Excellent Course and Condition
The conditions of the course were excellent! The course was challenging and fun to play. We had a great time!! My only issue was in transition from one hole to the next, signage was scarce to guide the way. We managed to bumble our way to each hole. For a first time visit, that was a minor inconvenience; we will return!!
Hawks Eye
Course was in good shape, everyone was friendly, polite and enthusiastic. We played it during a dry season in early August, the greens seemed a little sparse , maybe they recently aerated and sanded, my biggest concern was the rocks in the traps. Maybe I was in them a lot but the size of some of the stones was scary. Overall a good value.
Golf Boards
Had an excellent round on the Schuss Mountain course. My son and I used the Golf Boards, which were a fun way to navigate the course. The conditions were excellent and, after the ranger came out, our round was under four hours. The back nine has a lot of elevation changes, so it was much different than our local, flat course. Will play again next year when we are back in town.
Beautiful Day
Course is in great shape. Nice track for any skill level. You can't go wrong.
We appreciate the review. You rated us 3-stars which means there is room to improve on your recent experience at The Summit at Shanty Creek. Let us know, in the comments, how and where you would like to see changes from the course. Thanks for the feedback!
