A $4 million renovation that began in 2014 has paid big dividends for The Rookery at Marco in southwest Florida in the eyes of course reviewers for Golf Advisor.

The course -- an amenity of the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa -- finishes the Golf Advisor Power rankings for the week of July 6 atop the overall category and second in course conditions.

The six-month renovation saw the installation of Platinum Paspalum turf, and design changes to numerous bunker complexes.

Following his July 5 round, amalio wrote that The Rookery at Marco is one of his favorite golf courses in Collier County. "Aways an enjoyable experience."

UNITAS played the course June 29 and wrote in his review: "Fairways are in excellent condition. Greens run true but are very firm. Excellent staff."

ChampionsGate Country Club near Orlando finished seventh in course conditions for the week of June 1 but first this time around.

kyburnses played ChampionsGate C.C. on July 7. "The course conditions were impeccable. Tees, fairways and greens were all top notch. Greens rolled true and fast for Florida in the dead of summer," he wrote. "Overall, the best value I have seen in the Orlando area thus far!"
