Great Condition for November 27th!
The Cincinnati forecast was for 60 degrees on Monday, November 27th, so my friend and I snagged a Hot Deal round on GolfNow for Walden Ponds. Neither of us had been there for several years and we really enjoyed the round. The course was in very nice condition and the greens were pretty fast and rolled straight. We'll be back in the spring.
Well we really liked the layout of the course, but unfortunately it had rained the day before and the track was pretty sloppy. Of course it mandated cart path only, which most know takes some of the fun out of a round. When dry and golf now prices, the course is a steal!
Bad timing
Golf now put us right behind a 60 person outing an they destroyed the greens ball marks everywhere such a shame last time I played here great. no golf etiquette anymore need more parking wedding too just a bad day all around
Always enjoy Walden Ponds
Good pace of play and greens roll true. Fun layout with some good risk/reward holes. My only issue is that the bunkers are awful. Dirt and rocks, very thin. Almost unplayable. Either replace them or turn to grass!
Good value
First round after about 19 years, course has matured nicely.
Nice course!
Played at a nice pace. The course was in nice shape. Due to all the rain buckers needed some work. Staff was very friendly. If you have not played the course you need to give a shot!
Slow play
Always enjoyed play this course but today, Aug 30th was not a good day because of slow play. At times there were three groups backed up on one tee and at least 1 1/2 to 2 hole gap two groups ahead of us and no marshall to move them along. After our round, I stopped a roving starter who was looking for groups to go out and he mentioned that two guys didn't show for work that day....I said well the head pro should have gone out on the course to inspect pace of play instead of sitting in his office all day! That is bad judgement Jack on your part!
No Marshall Day!
Excellent course layout by Dr. Michael Hurdzan and one of my favorites to play but today with no Marshall to speed play along it took us 5:15 to play 18. Two groups ahead of us had a 2+ hole average gap. Where is the player's assistant. Guys behind our group said they won't be coming back and that is a shame. Granted the course was crowded but with two guys who did not show for work is unacceptable. The course pro should have been out there instead of sitting in the office!!!
Great layout
Enjoyed the day. Slow pace most of the day. 5 hour round. Course is in great condition.
Sand Traps
Course was in good shape except for the sand traps. The sand traps had very little loose sand due to using the heavy equipment pulling a rake. If they would do the traps by hand it would allow the sand to be looser and not compact.
Great Course
Beautiful course with some challenges.. can't wait to play it again
Good challenge
Second time playing this course. I enjoy the layout quite a bit. Hate the par 3's though. Pretty tough except for one. Fairways and greens are in great shape, but a few unsightly weeds here and there. The bunkers are the worse part of this course and desperately need to be turned and some are need of sand but I will be back to play it soon.
Sand Traps
Sand traps need a lot of work. This one of the best public golf courses in the Cincinnati area hands down. The sand traps are in hit table at times
One of the better ones
One of the better courses. Great driving holes. Fairways are wide and generous...lots of water on some holes makes it a bit more challenging. Only issue is the back 9...couple of holes need bunker repair. The signature hole is just a reminder of Augusta. Love the 18th...Eagle chance but ended with a birdie.
