Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills
About
The executive-length Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills (formerly known as Rolling Hills Golf Course) provides an excellent game and it is a very player-friendly course. True to its name, the course is quite hilly causing a few elevation changes and undulating greens. The fairways are lined with pretty trees, adding some challenge and beauty to the course. There are no water hazards but there are a few strategically placed bunkers to worry about as well as some out-of-bounds stakes bordering a few of the holes. Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills consists of ten par 3s and eight par 4s. On the premises there are also practice facilities, a pro shop, and an on-site golf pro.

Go play mini golf with your girlfriend instead of spending $20 at this course.
I’ve probably played this course 50 plus times. I understand that they are under construction the revamp the course, night golf, etc. I’m fully aware that this is rolling hills and not TPC Scottsdale. Fast forward to today… hole number 3 got split into two holes. Cool. Pull up to the first “green” the flag is legit in the middle of the old fairway. Absolutely mind boggling that they remain to charge more then they did in previous years for a construction site of 9 holes (back 9 shut down). The guy at the desk said it’s great value for the price. I would strongly disagree. I don’t think they could pay me to play in that.
Rolling Hills- don't bother until it's fixed
Paid $42 a person to play 18 holes, no mention that course was under construction. Arrived and checked in in clubhouse, person working there said nothing except see the starter. Starter informed us that only 8 holes were playable(but we could play the 8 holes twice), since the entire back 9 was under construction. At this course the back 9 is the best part of it. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WE WERE NOT OFFERED A DISCOUNT BY SOMEONE!!
WILL NOT COME BACK UNTIL IT OPENS BACK UP AGAIN!!
never again
was a good place to play but management changed name changed and the price went up not worth the money this time of year this will be my last time playing here after 12 years sad
No Warning ⚠️
I've played this course for years and know what to expect. It's a short course to play in a pinch usually kept up somewhat. Today I was very disappointed that there was no heads up on this app of the back 9 and hole 9 being closed. The guy in the pro shop said they can't control what goes on golf now but that was just a cop out. Don't play here right now there are plenty of courses around. I am looking forward to their night course!
Only 8 holes
I love playing this course, but at the moment there are only 8 hole’s available. If you pay for 18, you’ll would have to play the front 8 twice. Hole 3 is split in half, they have made it into 2 par 3. The entire back nine is closed, and also hole 9 due to renovation.
I will return after the summer. They have a great them coming for next year, and I can’t wait. Night Golf!
New things coming
Changes are coming to Rolling Hills. Third day into new ownership. Restaurant is closed. On course restrooms closed. Cart sales are card only. Some on course construction/remodeling has begun. Many exciting pictures of what course will be but hope they don’t overdo and eliminate the charm that is Rolling Hills.
Summer heat
Course working on water lines .. right now course not looking too good
Rolling Hills-nice smaller 18 hole course
Good stuff, greens in nice shape, staff was friendly and courteous..Will play there again!
Overall great course
Overall rolling hills is awesome! The construction is a bit annoying but it will be worth it for night play.
Rolling Hills First Round
Played RH for the first time on a Friday. Course is shorter than other area courses but is challenging. Great for irons off the tee and chipping work. There is currently trenching work occurring which affected play. Loud, but not distracting as the PHX flights are constant white noise. Was told work to light course and clean up the fringes (currently most fairways fringes are dirt) will star in July. Tempe has contract with a company who will make the improvements and operate the course. Driving range is acceptable
Clubhouse amenities are weak but supposed to be improved with other course work. Very few trees so expect full sun and very hot afternoon temperatures.
Good Executive Course
Been a few years since I last played Rolling Hills. Course was in good shape but holes 2 and 6 were closed due to city of Tempe construction. I just played a couple of other holes twice to get my full 18 in. Pace on the front 9 was quick but the back 9 quickly backed up as groups only playing 9 holes were sent off the back. Overall I enjoyed my round and would play again.
Good course for the price.
Played on Father's day and it was pretty packed. Pace of play wasn't too bad. Greens were fast and hard to read. The rest of the course was in pretty good shape.
Staff and course
Course needs some TLC. Golf club. Nice and friendly- the starter she needs some work. Like big time. Need a new face out handling customers.
Nice short course
First time playing there and for the price I got what I expected. Greens were a bit too fast and the group two ahead of mine held the pace up like they owned the joint. Overall I'll play again and hope for faster pace next time around.
