The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes
About
The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes sits along the pristine headwaters of the Florida Everglades, surrounded by live oaks, towering pines, and palmettos. Two-time British Open Champion Greg Norman designed the golf course. He and his team focused on preserving the area's natural beauty and ecosystem. The ponds, wetlands, and mature trees were carefully protected and incorporated into the challenges of the design. The final result blends in so seamlessly it's as though the golf course had been there all along. Norman's commitment to the environment was recognized with the course's certification as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The player-friendly layout has wide fairways and generous landing areas but the subtly contoured greens and strategically placed hazards will keep you on your toes. Five sets of tees make the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes even more accessible to players of any skill level.

Wrapping up a great day. Photo submitted by Scott4497478 on 11/06/2012
the course was excellent
2nd time playing once in summer and now week after father son challenge great set up both times
Plain & Simple 5 stars !!!!!
Excellent all around. Check in. Bag staff. Pro shop.
Range. Putting Green. A pleasure to play there!!
Will be back to play when I am in the Orlando area!.
Jeremy bag area was fun to talk to!
Thank You for a great day of Golf !
Very Good Condition
As I drove into the Ritz Carlton it was a little confusing exactly if I was heading towards the Golf Course but I was . You just have to keep driving for about 2 minutes and you will see signs for the Ritz Carlton course.
Guys up front took my bag. No issues parking the car close. No issues paying inside the Pro Shop. Went to the range-(Balls included in the Greens Fees) which is a nice feature. Very nice Range and practice putting green.
Did not realize that next weekend the PNC Father/Son Tournament will be playing there at the Ritz Course so will be fun to watch that on TV just after I have played this course! The course was in very good condition. Greens were very good. Pace of play was fine -the foursome I was in took about 4 hours and 10 minutes. Cloudy day but we did not get any rain when playing.
Staff was very nice and very helpful. I do remember Jeremy when I finished my round. I do remember talking about Florida and how they are set up. Florida is called The Right to Work State which I had no idea what that meant. It should be called the Privledge To Work State meaning if you do one thing wrong or show up late to work-the place of business can fire you on the spot if they want to. One thing I will say to all of you reading this review. PLEASE TIP THE WORKERS THAT ARE CLEANING YOUR CLUBS AFTER YOU ARE DONE. AT LEAST $5 OR $10.00. They live on our tipping them. They make less than minimum wage so they are counting on the golfers that play there or any golf course in Florida to tip them after they clean your clubs-so please shell out the $5 or $10.00 for them ! Thank You!!
Very playable off the tee - greens another story
Grand Lake is a very high quality resort course. Great conditions maybe due to the PNC Father-Son Challenge being played here in less than 2 weeks. Greens are very subtle and fast - stimped at 12! Grain and speed provided plenty of challenge. Well bunkered course and especially around the greens creating a need for high soft approach shots. Well worth the cost if you get a good deal on GolfNow. I'll play it again next time I'm in Orlando.
Best public course in Orlando
I played a round on Monday morning and after i was done, bought a weekly membership.$425 gets you 7 days of all access, as many rounds as you like. This course is in private club like condition. Everything is top notch. The staff treats you like a member of a private club. They remember your name which is a rarity at any public course. The clubhouse and locker room are very nice. The course is beautiful. Not a blemish on the entire 18. There are no houses, and you feel like you are playing in a wildlife sanctuary on many of the holes.Greens are relatively fast for a resort course and well guarded by bunkers. The course played a bit short from the whites, but I moved back to the tips, and it was a challenge. I play Grand Cypress for a week every year, and this course is a little better both aesthetically and condition wise. (Grand Cypress is a fantastic facility also and would highly recommend for groups).
Make use of the practice bunker
What can you say? Its the Ritz Carlton. Everything is perfect from the time you leave your car till you get back. Practice the bunker play as there are a lot of them. I felt bad taking a divot the fairways are so perfect. Vey playable course. The staff is awesome and the price through golfnow at 95$ is worth every penny.
It's that good - I booked a tee time the very next day ..!!!!!
This is golf as it should be .....
Every thing from the bag drop to the 18th green is awesome ...
Even if you think the rack rate is expensive , just try it and you'll soon realise why it's more expensive than other courses
Has to be the best course in central Florida ...
Great Golf Course
One of the Best Golf Courses in Central Florida area.
Great! Fastest greens in Orlando. Smooth, clean, quiet, very well maintained.
Played it several times in the past already and it is always a great experience. Everything is just the way it should be. Very well maintained, tee boxes, fairways and bunkers in excellent shape. Greens are very fast, so watch out the speed of your putts! The course is challenging from the tips, but very well playable from shorter tees. Excellent training facility. Staff is very cordial and helpful. There is just nothing to complain.
Overall - it is definitely the top place to go in Orlando. And we had a very reasonable rate, thank to Golfnow…
Will play it again
We had to plat the front 9 twice
But the price was reduced
Still great value
Poor Value for Money
Having booked the Ritz Carlton and really looking forward to playing the course me and my 3 playing partners were extremely disappointed. Whilst checking in at the pro shop we were advised that we would have to play the front 9 twice rather than the full course because of refurbishment and there were no chipping facilities available either for the same reason. Having returned to the locker rooms in need of a good shower we find there is only 1 shower, can't believe, particularly in high season the clients would accept this. If it had been made clear on Golf Now or indeed the Ritz Carlton website the refurbishment was taking place we would have booked elsewhere. The whole 'Ritz Carlton' experience was one we had so looked forward to but we're truly unimpressed.
Was really expecting more
Got stuck playing the front nine twice due to bunker work on the back nine, but didn't know prior to arriving at course. Way too many tee times as we waited 10-15 minutes each hole when we had a tee time at 8am. Sand traps could have used some water on them or something because I have never buried so many balls on sand traps before. Overall just really expected more.
Great course friendly staff.
Top end course in great condition. Only 7 mile from my home so perfect for me. A step above others courses such as celebration which used to be my favourite course. I'll certainly be playing here again
Terrific experience
The only downside was the course is replacing their bunkers and we had to play the same 9 holes twice. But I am really looking forward to September 15 when the course has completed this. Outstanding experience and course. Country Club service and facilities. GO FOR IT!
First timer
First Time playing here. I live here in Orlando and play all the resort courses the majority of the time. This course by far is my favorite. It usually is out of my price range. But I found a hot deal on golf now. The staff is super nice as well as the cart girl. The conditions were excellent! The greens ran around 11 to 12. So if you like fast greens this is the place for you. They ran true but do not have as much break as you might think. The greens held a good shot if you came into low it was not holding. You better have a good short game if you want to score. The rough is not too thick but it is your typical Florida rough that the ball settles down so you will be chipping back into the fairway. Hitting the Fairway is a premium. There is plenty of room in the fairway off the Teebox.
Sunday Evening Golf (07/19/15 @ 4:30 PM)
FYI: Sand trap replenishment and aeration to take place starting on Monday, July 20th (hence the cheap rates). Hit up the Ritz Carton Grande Lakes for an evening round of golf. Luckily, the storms in the area didn't come close to John Young Parkway. Grande Lakes at the Ritz Carlton and J.W. Marriott is public-accessible golf at its finest. However, it comes with a price. That price drops dramatically during the hotter months in Florida. I had to pay $40 plus tax for a 4:20 PM tee-time. However, not a problem of the Ritz Carlton, Golf Now kind of left me out in the cold on a $36 advertised tee time (pretty much after 4pm on the weekends right now all RC tee times are $36). When I was on my laptop at home, the full web site had $36 resident rates displayed. I didn't book the round at home because I wanted to drive over to the course and make sure area storms weren't affecting the course. When I got to the course, the weather was perfect. I logged into my GolfNow app but it wouldn't show me anything other than $60 non-resident rates. The pro-shop was of now help remedying this. The girl working in there said she didn't see anything on their interface except for $40 rates. I just took the $40 rate and left it at that. She didn't seem to want to help me much and was not very receptive of friendly for that matter. So the lesson here is to book online using the full web site if you are a FL resident. The course was awesome. The greens didn't have a bump to them except where irresponsible players didn't fix their ball marks. The fairways are so nice. They feel like plush carpet as you ride around on them in the cart. The carts do not have the full touch-screen GPS units. They do have a GPS unit that gives you front, middle, and back yardages. In addition to that, there is a pin-placement sheet on the inside of the cart indicating "plus" or "minus" yards from the green's center for the day's pin placement. If you have a laser it will pay dividends for navigating par 5s. The pin placement sheet used with the cart GPS pretty much gave me the same yardage to the pins as my laser indicated. The greens are fast so put with caution. You can read the greens by their sheen. If you are going with the grain take caution as they will roll, roll, roll. If you are putting against the grain you might need to stroke the putt a little more. There is a significant difference in speed going with and against the grain. Cold water bottles in the carts cooler. There are plenty of stations to get more water and trade-out your empty sand/seed bottles. There restrooms out on the course too. The driving range has nice Taylormade practice balls and club-caddy stations made from Polywood (tees are included on range club caddy). There are also nice practice putting greens. We saw an alligator, several deer, ducks, herons, and tons of other wildlife while playing our round. Basically, at 4:20 PM on a Sunday, I had the course to myself (my wife rode along). I had a record three birdies on the front 9 this evening which made it even more fun. It's nice to putt and see your ball stay online and not bounce all over the place. :-) Overall, great course if you can afford to play it.
Grand Lakes Golf
Could only play back nine due to renovation of sand traps on the front. A little disappointing since that was not disclosed until check in. Play was very slow even though there were very few players on the course...appeared there were no marshalls. I played behind three Asian men who hit many extra shots, searched for balls excessively, did not repair traps or ball marks on greens. Most aggregating was, they would not let me, a single, play through! So I only played 9 holes. That said the course was perfect! I look forward to playing there again.
Country Club feel at a public course ....
Exceptional experience that exceeded my expectations!
The cart cooler was packed with ice and free bottles of water including a cooler on the 14th hole for more water.
I left my range finder at home but thankfully the carts had a digital yardage screen to front, middle and back on the cart! The pin sheet located the hole positions +\- of middle. Nice range of tee positions also to suite a variety of player levels. Most of course is surrounded by vegetation and water. For the most part, it feels like you are playing in a remote location in FLA!
I enjoyed it so much I played 36 in one day in the July heat. The winds changed direction and the course played VERY different the second time around. Also, The greens were exceptional and VERY consistent!
Restaurant Facilties
Finished our (extremely hot) round of golf at 5pm and bar and restaurant were already closed.
An absolute disgrace for a full-service resort such as the Ritz-Carlton.
Simply PERFECT
If you ever want to experience golf at the highest level, you must play Ritz Carlton Orlando. Got there at 1030am for a 1pm tee time. Hit some balls on the range ( includes unlimited balls ) had a great lunch in the course restaurant, went to practice some putiing and sand shots ( nice large practice bunker) then some chipping practice. We told the starter at 1100am if he had a spot for us earlier than our 1pm tee time that we would like to get going earlier. Well at 1230 pm he tracked us down and said we could go now if we liked. Amazimg staff !
Course is perfect for everyone. Fairways cut perfect. Challenging greens but makable. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Ritz Carlton Orlando !!
