The links layout was great very difficult first time

I love playing this course. It is a little east of Chula Vista but is calm and quiet and never seems that crowded. It is a challenging course and the putting is hard. The greens are in really good shape and the putts roll true.

Great open layout. Fairways were fast and firm but most times a good enough lie even if you pick the ball. Greens were tough to read for me. The speed was sneaky quick. Easy to play too much break. Overall, I would definitely take my buds there. Great views of the mountains. This will be a repeat course for me every year I come back.

While the idea of Salt Creek is generally good, the course maintenance and design leaves good shots in bad spots. The courses design doesn't allow the average golfer a chance to score well. If the course was dry I don't know if any balls would stay on the fairway... or the greens. Some balls held the green, but rolled and rolled when putted or bounced on.
Will not recommend ever again.

We were the first out on a off and on rainy morning. So the course was damp and a little muddy. However the course was great, fairways were well kept and the water did not collect on the fairways at all. The greens were immaculate! I would play here again.

Staff were friendly, and a couple small food items purchased were good... but the course was in REALLY poor shape overall. Fairways were brown, and the ball rolled out of bounds on several occasions due to layout of course & very short/dead fairway grass (several yards). Greens were in descent shape (to be fair), but the OB areas (& general grounds) were poorly maintained.

I felt the price to play Salt Creek was not consistent/equal to other courses I've played for the same amount. Online pictures portray a much different course, so hoping it is simply the drought & off-season maintenance.

The greens were in excellent shape rolling around 11-12 and true. Fairways were tight and in very good shape considering the current drought conditions. I've played on a couple of courses whose fairways were marginally better but many more that were much worse. Beautiful vistas, dramatic elevation changes, enough tee boxes (also in great shape btw) on every hole to cater to every handicap. On more than a couple of holes moving just one tee box doesn't necessarily increase/decrease length as much as it changes your sight line and often times the change is dramatic. Very cool design.
Great course design, great staff, overall very good condition, easy to get to = great value and a great day of golf.

The only links style course in the south bay! Played at high noon, werent to many people out. Don't hit the ball right!

I love Salt Creek. Many challenging holes. Definitely need course knowledge to score well. Many tee boxes to choose from. Best greens in San Diego. They are slick and perfect right now.

So I went back and played on Saturday the 31st of October. We started on the back nine as they had a 5k on the course that did not affect us in any way. Not a big deal and we were notified as soon as we checked in. Course is in fabulous shape and the greens are perfect. Fairways are in awesome shape and we finished the round in less than 4 hours. Will be coming back to play more often!!!

First impressions we this was going to be horrible course, it looks dry, unkept and messy ..... to the naked eye. However as you get into the round the untidy areas are largely not in play so long as you keep ball relatively straight ......tee boxes are in good shape, course design is excellent and overall the fairways are decent (winter rules will make them perfectly decent to play) and greens are VERY quick , undulating and very tough to get close to the pin.
What i wasn't impressed with was some of the etiquette shown by other golfers on the course and the fact i left a lob wedge by a green and someone stole it rather than the decent thing of handing in to the pro shop. For this reason and principle i wont go back and wouldn't recommend shame and hope the person who stole the club has his day of karma

I love that the course Is not winding through a housing development!

Played on Friday with a buddy of mine. We were able to tee off on time, pace of play for a Friday was very good. The best part of the round was the greens, they were in great condition.

Only had two negatives, several of the ball washers on the course were either dry, (no water in them) or the device was broken. The other issue was their bunkers, several of them need attention throughout the course.

Another great deal thanks to GolfNow. My friend mentioned that the greens would most likely be punched for the price I paid. WRONG! The greens were the BEST I've played on in San Diego. Thank you Mario G.

Salt Creek was a great course. Both my wife and I loved it. Conditions were wonderful, and the greens are a DREAM to play on. I didn't play it like a links course, but you could if need be. Fairways were wide, and not that punishing if you missed them due the an abundance of hazards both left and right.

Only issue is that the group behind us cut in front of us on number 10 when we went to grab a snack. Pace was a bit slow, but that is what happens when you tee off at noon on a Saturday.

The bunkers are not good, so try to avoid them

Lots of challenging holes, not really wide fairways, greens in fairly good condition not the bunkers. We had a foursome in front of us in the back nine that didn't know about etiquette rules, so pace of play was slow!! Other than that it's a fun golf course,..,.

The course is in a community called Rolling Hills, and it takes full advantage of the natural rolling environment. The course is laid out so that each fairway is in it's own little world.

This course was amazing. Great fairways and challenging native areas. Course was expertly maintained. Most importantly the greens were true and fast. The course pro Chris Yoder was super friendly. Highly recommend this track!!!

I have played here a couple of times and this is becoming one of my favorite tracks in the area. A links style course which is different than most courses around here. Greens are fast and firm and the balls rolls on the fairways. The wind plays havoc and you find that you will play shots that you don't normally play elsewhere. Challenging but fun and there are some risk reward holes. Staff is friendly and I love the fact that there are no houses on the course itself.
